So, I just looked over my last posts. I haven't done much knitting lately, as I've been using most my free time to either be lazy or look at wedding stuff online, and when I'm not doing that I'm working on painting the bathroom. The first rows are pictures of the bathroom partially done ( I still need to paint the next 2 walls and do the 2nd coat) - which is how it's been for the past week or 2. The bottom row is the gold mirror/medicine cabinet that used to be in the wall above the sink. I'm looking for silver stuff instead of gold now, and plus the medicine cabinet is rusted out, so I'm not sure what I'll do with those.
Also, I finished reading the Emperor's Children book. It was ok, but not really my type of book. Maybe just because I didn't get that rewarding feeling when I finished it. :-)
Below are pictures of Matt and me playing Jenga at Perkins with the Half and Half. :)
With the wedding the church and photographer are picked out, and I'm deciding between 2 reception halls - I have a tentative hold on both, so hopefully I'll be decided by the end of the week. I just ordered the save the date cards, and they're supposed to be here within a couple weeks or so - I ordered slow shipping. Here's a copy of my save the date (the website's not right though). I'm crossing my fingers that everything goes well.
One of the reason's I started this journal was so I could put my knitting (or whatever my next phase is) projects on here because I love how you can put photos on here so easily. So here is the knitting I've accomplished so far:
The last 3 (2 if you're not on my friends list) are actually the first knitting project I did - which was supposed to be a scarf for Matt. As you can see from the middle picture, it was nowhere near long enough, and I couldn't for the life of me find more of the same yarn. So I had to knit him another scarf - which I don't have pictures of (at least I'm not sure where they are if I do have them).
The first 2 are a lot more purple than they look in the pictures, but that was a scarf I knitted for Matt's grandma - it was bigger than my first attempt with Matt's scarf, but not much bigger because his grandma is not a big lady. :-) The next scarf I knitted, I'm not sure where the pictures for that would be - if I have them. I may have not taken any ofut of frustration. I knitted my grandma a purple chenille scarf. In case you are thinking about this - don't do it. Knitting with chenille sucks. I think the scarf turned out pretty well, but whenever it would knot (which was a lot), I would spend about an hour trying to unknot it. That really only resulted in me accidentally tearing away little pieces of yarn until it was about the size of dental floss - and I just ended up cutting the knot off, and tying a new piece on and working from there. Also, chenille yarn sheds like crazy.
I'm working on another project which I think I'm going to make into a bag/purse of some type, and I have a few other things I have in mind that I had wanted to do as Christmas presents for people but ran out of time.
Hopefully I'll be able to keep more updated on that. :-) But considering how often I post on hear and Livejournal, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Today was pretty successfully - Matt and I visited 5 different Catholic churches around the area today. We're going to mass tomorrow at St. Paul's (strangely enough the 1st one we looked at, as well as the one who's parish we're in). Their web site is: http://www.stpaulcatholicchurch.org/
They don't have the most impressive outside, but the inside is really pretty - they have some nice stained glass windows and such. There was also a nice church - Church of the Resurrection - in New Albany, but the inside with the rows looked more like auditorium seating around a church alter - big & pretty, but it didn't really have the church feel. And another nice one in Worthington - St. Michael's, but the priest said that they're more orthodox & some of the other churches around are more liberal. I'm not sure what that means, but in the bulletin it says that people about to go through baptism/marriage/sponsorship have to give at least 6 month notice (which is normal), but they have to make charitable donations weekly as proof of weekly attendance, intention to be active members, and Stewardship commitment. I'm sure some people would like that the parish members are very involved & love to go by that, but that's not really something that either Matt or I are looking for.
Unfortunately, I have to work Monday - I'll be doing some work, and also training a new guy, so it'll be interesting. Hopefully the new guy will catch on quickly so I can let go of the geo-coding work and move on to more fun database stuff.
Then hopefully Tuesday Matt & I (or whichever of us have time, if either of us) will start calling reception halls. I've got about 20 halls listed - I've been loving the ability to share spreadsheets on Google so I can update and have Matt check it out in the middle of the day. :-)
Another cool random thing is that I've got Seasons 1 & 2 of the Office in .avi format - and I just downloaded the awesome free tcpmp software for Palm, so now I can watch them on there - Yeah! And also Matt got me Season 2 of the Office on DVD for Christmas - we watched the Public Service Announcements (hilarious), and the deleted scenes & commentaries. Lots of fun. I'm half tempted to buy a bunch more (or a couple 4GB SD cards so I can watch the movies anytime on my palm - but I've been refraining from that so far.
Cool random thing #2 is that my favorite yogurt - Kroger's brand, called Carbmasters - is getting rid of their plastic tops in favor of the small plastic covering part of it. (And on top of that, they're about 80 calories - half of the other brands, and I think they're really good - they only have Vanilla, Raspberry, and Strawberry though).
And the latest book I'm working on (besides the other random small books) is The Emperor's Children. One of Matt's co-workers recommended it to me - it follows 4 New Yorkers before & after 9/11. I've only read about 40 pages so far. It's kind of interesting, but I haven't really gotten into it. It's a little over 400 pages, so I'm hoping that changes here soon. The cover's below, just because I wanted to do that. :-)
So I'm not sure about this whole Vox thing - I've had Livejournal for a few years or so, and I've just recently gone to updating maybe once a month. It's not too flashy, which is nice - and I like that you can add photos, audio, videos, books, etc. Although it would be nice if you could change the page style a little more than just the pre-defined layouts. Oh well - we'll see how this goes.
